Notes on the program
If you enjoy opera, this program is almost certain to include some of your favorites! Some of the arias are famous for wringing tears from the eyes of their audiences, like "Vesti la giubba" (from Leoncavallo's I pagliacci) or "Nessun dorma" (Puccini's Turandot). Others are virtuoso showpieces, like Rosina's "Una voce poco fa" from Rossini's Barber of Seville or "Fin ch'han dal vino" from Mozart's Don Giovanni. We also include two ensemble numbers from Mozart's Cosi fan tutte, the gorgeous farewell trio "O soave sia il vento" and the furiously intense Act 1 Finale. The orchestra alone will render two famous overtures under Maestro Medak's baton: Verdi's for La Forza del Destino, and Engelbert Humperdinck's for Hansel and Gretel.
