Alexis Hatch

Alexis Hatch began studying the violin with her father, the American violist Peter Hatch, before she was four years old. From the very beginning, her talent was apparent to all and by the age of eight she was playing in concerts with her sister Heidi Hatch and the rest of her family. By the age of ten she was featured as soloist with the Alicante Symphony in Spain.

From 2007 until 2011 she lived in Spain, where she studied at the Escuela Superior Reina Sofia and was accepted in the class of Zakhar Bron. During this time she performed regularly in the International Festival of Villanueva de los Infantes, both as soloist with orchestra and in chamber music, and was also heard in recitals in Ciudad Real, Alicante and El Campello.

In 2010, she made a series of video recordings for the Spanish National Radio and Television series Jovenes Solistas (Young Soloists) which are still broadcast on weekends throughout Spain.

She was a prizewinner in the Antelope Valley Young Artists competition last year and has participated in the Young Musicians Foundation's chamber music program for the last two years. As a member of the Los Angeles Children's Chorus, she performed last year in Mahler's Eighth Symphony with the Los Angeles Philharmonic under Gustav Dudamel as well as in the Hollywood Bowl this summer in productions of Carmina Burana and Swan Lake.

At the age of 16, she appears to be poised at the beginning of a remarkable career in music.
